Professional Experience!!

During my experience I learnt  these important lessons:

1. Develop positive relationships with your students as even the most disruptive students will buckle down and do their work if you show them respect. (i.e that you mean business)

2. Be flexable in terms of altering lessons plans and  in the everyday running of school life as anything can happen!

3. Challenge your own beliefs and your students; expose them to new ways of thinking

It is often easy to lose sight of why we going into teaching in the first place when we are caught up the haphazard events that life often throws at us!

INSPIRING AND MOTIVATING STUDENTS TO LEARN IS OUR PURPOSE!

that is why I want to be a teacher and why I will countinue to strive for this throughout not only the rest of my professional experiences but the rest of my life!

Classroom management!

Teacher 'jabbed students with syringe'

Tue Oct 27 2009

A 24-year-old female kindergarten teacher has been detained in southwest China after allegedly stabbing more than 20 children with a syringe to discipline them, state media reports.
The woman, Sun Qiqi, was taken into custody at the weekend in Yunnan province after angry parents complained to police about the alleged abuse at the unlicensed school in Jianshui county, the China Daily reported. One mother, Zhou Limei, said her four-year-old daughter had been stabbed multiple times last week, on the back of her left hand and on her bottom.
It was not immediately clear if the alleged syringe contained any hazardous materials. Children were given ultrasound examinations and HIV tests which were negative, the China Daily said.
"Although the blood test shows the children are HIV-negative, I hope the government gives us proper compensation," Zhou told the paper. The Global Times reported that Sun had confessed, saying she had pricked the children to "tame" them and that she was overwhelmed by the 37 three- and four-year-olds in her charge. One three-year-old boy had eight needle wounds, and was allegedly punished for refusing to take a nap, the newspaper said. School principal Bai Yali told the Global Times she knew nothing about the incident, and that Sun's performance had been "good".

FYI
Just a reminder that needles are not a good way to manage a classroom, they are good for sewing though!

Teaching Philosophy !

Students are the most important part of any classroom. I strive to help all students reach their fullest potential by having high expectations of all students and keeping in mind that when I teach students concepts and ideas that if  I would find the work tedious and hard to understand I would not expect my students too. I am a learner and I am allowed to make mistakes because if I acknowledge this in myself my students will feel comfortable in taking risks and making mistakes within the classroom, as this is an important part of learning as long as you learn from your mistakes!

Welcome

I am a Teacher in training or a pre-service teacher as we are known in Australia. I hope you like alliteration because I do and so the name TeacherTumbles was created. I have had a major tumble just recently but I managed to pick myself up again and bounce back. Do not think I have a negative view of teaching because that is not the case but now as I approach the halfway mark of my teaching degree, I have surpassed the honeymoon period and have realised how stressful teaching can be, but at the same time how rewarding it is when you get through to your students and you have them enthralled in your speech there is no greater feeling.

I will post some of the tumbles I have encountered when I have been out practice teaching. But most importantly I will try to draw connections between the many experiences we have in everyday life and how they can be applied to teaching and learning because this in my mind is extremely essential in terms of education as the big picture!
